Taking back the table 101
It’s such an honor to be able to spend time with families that have a strong passion for teaching their kids to cook. (Or in this case, bake!) I had the pleasure of spending one Saturday morning with Katherine Wandell of Katherine Wandell Home Making by Design. She is a wife, mother of three adorable little boys, and author of her own uniquely designed motherhood.
This is my first official “Taking back the table” post. In this series I will introduce you to kitchens around the globe, and the families that fill them with magic. I’ve said it before in previous posts, the kitchen is where my heart is. I believe every kitchen has a story, and every story has an author.
Katherine’s Kitchen Tales
“my passion of being in the kitchen with my kids comes from my own childhood. My mother would always let me help her bake and teach me how to do things. It started when I was old enough to stir ingredients together”
“We did lots of baking. Not that much cooking. She would let me cut out rolled cookies and place them on a sheet. She was always very gently and patient”
“So I want to do the same for my boys. It’s important that they enjoy being in the kitchen because it’s really the heart of the home. If you don’t learn to cook or bake before you leave the house then you’ll be failing in the nutrition department. At least in my opinion. I want my boys to know you can’t eat out everyday and pizza isn’t one of the food groups.”
“So more then passing on a love of being in the kitchen I want them to also learn the basic skills of cooking for themselves.”
If you would like to see the recipe for these scrumptious muffins, Katherine has generously shared it with us on her blog HERE.
I totally enjoyed these photos of a beautiful family loving the baking experience. You truly captured their personality in picture.
ADORABLE! I love the images where the one little guy has the bowl on his head! SO CUTE!
Great job at telling their story! I love it.
